WhatsApp will soon allow users to use two accounts on one phone
Smartphone users will soon be able to use two WhatsApp accounts on one device. WhatsApp parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the same in a Facebook post. “Today, we’re introducing the ability to have two WhatsApp accounts logged in at the same time. Helpful for switching between accounts – such as your work and personal – now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about messaging from the wrong place,” said Zuckerberg in a post.
This feature will save users from carrying around an extra device or continuously logging out of their accounts to switch between accounts. WhatsApp account switching feature also aims to make it easier for users to manage their conversations across multiple accounts.
For example, if a user has different WhatsApp accounts for work and for messaging friends and family members, this feature will allow them to switch between these accounts seamlessly on a single device.
At least 15 dead, over 100 injured in Bangladesh train collision
At least 15 people were killed and many others injured after a passenger train collided with a goods train in Kishoreganj. The accident happened when a passenger train collided with a freight train at Bhairab, about 80 kilometres from capital Dhaka.
The crash occurred when the Dhaka-bound Godhuli Express collided head on with a cargo train heading to Chattogram. Train services to other parts of the country remained suspended following the accident. Several people are feared to be injured in the accident, local media reported quoting witnesses who said that many people were trapped under the train.
“We have recovered 15 bodies, many are injured,” Sadiqur Rahman, a government administrator in Bhairab told AFP.
“The death toll will rise,” he said as rescuers reported that they could still see bodies crushed and trapped under overturned coaches.
At least 100 people were injured, he added.
Hamas says more than 5,000 killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza
Gaza‘s Hamas-run health ministry said Monday that more than 5,000 people have been killed in the besieged Palestinian enclave since Israel launched its withering bombing campaign more than two weeks ago.
Alarm has surged about the spiralling humanitarian crisis in Gaza amid the war sparked by the October 7 Hamas attack that, Israeli officials say, killed more than 1,400 people who were gunned down, stabbed or burnt by the Islamist militants. Hamas also took more than 200 hostages.
On a day when Israel’s army reported more than 300 new strikes within 24 hours, Gaza’s health ministry said the death toll had surged above 5,000, around 40 percent of them children.
Thousands of buildings have been destroyed and more than one million people displaced in the territory that has been under siege and largely deprived of water, food and other basic supplies.
About a dozen trucks carrying desperately needed aid -- the third convoy in three days -- arrived inside Gaza from Egypt on Monday through Rafah, Gaza’s only crossing not controlled by Israel.

Nobel Prize in economics awarded to Claudia Goldin
Claudia Goldin, a Harvard University professor, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in economics for her research on women's income and employment. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences stated that Goldin's research uncovered key drivers of gender differences in the labor market, revealing that the majority of earnings difference now exists between men and women in the same occupation.
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was instituted by Sweden's central bank in 1968. It was awarded to former US Federal Reserve Governor Ben Bernanke and American economists Douglas Diamond and Philip Dybvig for their work on the history of women in the US economy.
Music festival goers heard rockets
The terrifying attack was just one of multiple locations hit on Saturday morning by the most sustained and coordinated assault inside Israel ever carried out by Hamas militants.
At least 260 bodies would later be found at the festival site, according to Israeli rescue service Zaka. Some attendees were taken hostage, seen in social media videos being seized by their armed captors.
Emergency state of war in Israel
Following the Hamas attack, the Israeli government declared a state of emergency, and the Israeli Air Force continued to target Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
The number of Israelis held hostage by Hamas militants is said to be 100. Israeli soldiers, children and women are said to be among the hostages.
American Secretary of National Defense Lloyd Austin told the media that several warships belonging to the American Navy were sent to the Mediterranean Sea near Israel after US President Joe Biden declared his support for Israel by condemning the attack by Hamas militants.
